My Hero
Chapter Six
By Bella Maeve
“You don’t know the first thing about how to defend yourself – ”
“So teach me!” she screamed in frustration. “I’m sick of sitting around with my thumb up my ass, waiting for your permission to do anything!”
“Okay.”
“You can’t just – wait, what was that?”
“I said, ‘okay.’ I’ll teach you some self defense.”
Nancy was completely taken aback.
How Does Your Garden Grow?
Chapter Four
By April Hill
“And here I was, thinking that you already believed me,” she said sullenly.
“What I believe is that you hit somebody, and since Kruger is ready to swear on a stack of his precious seed catalogues that he was at home all night nursing Fluffy, a DNA test will at least prove that he’s lying. But I still don’t know what he’s got to lie about, and neither do you.”
“Yes, I do,” she said stubbornly. “And if you think I’m going to wait for weeks for some stupid test – a test that you now tell me won’t actually prove anything, you can just – ”
McCann groaned. “Don’t finish that sentence,” he said. “I’ve had a rotten day, and I’m not above lowering my stress levels by paddling the closest annoying butt.”
Bait
By Michelle Carlyle
“Okay, you win. I don’t really care, anyway.”
He knew she was lying to him. “Before we go further, there’s something you need to know about me.”
“And that is?”
“I punish liars.”
She blinked several times. “Say what?”
The High Cost of Shoes
By OTKRomance
Ella couldn’t believe it! Her mild-mannered, soft-spoken, wouldn’t-hurt-a-fly husband had threatened to spank her! Over a pair of shoes? What was her world coming to?
She should have been angry. She should have followed after him and told him just what he could do with his little threats. She should have said she would do whatever she pleased, buy as many pairs as she liked, and there wasn’t a single thing he could do about it!
But she didn’t. She sat mutely, staring after him, her heart pounding and her mind reeling as she tried to understand why she’d found him so damned attractive as he’d voiced that threat.
A New Author!
Oddity TV
By Michelle Edwards
“You can sleep in the other bedroom tonight and we’ll take the first flight out in the morning.”
He didn’t say a word. He just got into the car, drove to the condo, dropped me off and left. Obviously, I never saw him act like that. He appeared to be so hurt, like a bird with a broken wing. The next morning, I was hurting inside also. I was wishing I could figure out what to do. Then Brad knocked at the door. I didn’t want to see him. I was too upset.
“Go away,” I called. “I don’t want to see you right now.” I heard a loud bang and the door burst open. “Oh, my God. You’ve kicked down the entire door! We’re going to have to pay for that. What are you doing? Hey. Brad. Wait a minute!”
Sometimes It Is
By Robin Smith
“I’ll be in touch,” was what he’d said in real life, “if you change your mind.” And he had been. Phone calls every weekend, which she refused to take. Emails nightly, which she didn’t answer. Chat rooms invites she ignored and IM pop-ups she let dangle in limbo all day. Better a clean break, she told herself. Because long-distance relationships don’t work and everyone knew it.
“If you’re so sure of that,” he said quietly. “Why do you keep having this dream?”
And then, mercifully, Raquel punched her in the side and woke her up, mumbling apologies.
